i ve got mine, thanks amp3!
I would like to ask abt the firmware… there seems to be 2 type, one with FM radio (firmware 2.xx type) & the other is with DAB digital radio (firmware 4.xx type). If mine came with the firmware 2.xx type can i upload the firmware with the 4.xx type & get DAB ?
There are two different hardware versions of the Cowon D2. (1) Cowon D2 with FM Radio and (2) Cowon D2 with DAB Radio & FM Radio. It’s not possible to convert the FM Radio version to have a DAB Radio as well, as this unit has a different chipset inside it. Hope this helps, Josh.

I have a sony a820 series. Is the sound quality of this D2 better than the Iriver Clix and better than the Sony a820 series? Or they are all three quite good

The battery will last about 10 hours playing video and the player has a year’s warranty. It’s without a doubt one of the most reliable players we sell and we see tiny returns numbers.
Hi there, the one main difference between the Sony and the D2 is power output. For volume, the D2 blows the Sony away – although sound quality is broadly similar at the same volume output. The same applies to the Clix 2 – these three represent the best sounding small players on the market. However, for sheer power, the D2 has everything beat currently.

oh yeah and isnt there any other different kind of view styles like theme or put pic for background?

They are exactly the same – one has DAB radio and one does not. If you require (or want) to have DAB digital radio with you, then get the DAB one. If DAB isn’t important to you, the conventional FM version is cheaper.
I think the U3 was one of Cowon’s low end players. The D2 is a flagship player I think.
It’s not the flagship, but it’s one of the most supported Cowon players by a big community. Flagship Cowon are the S9, Q5, and O2.

i read that the earphones act as a attenna for the Dab, if this is the case? If i were to attach this via the tv out to my car stereo, would the DAB have reception?
What happened to the Non-DAB version of the 8gb on the website?
