High Use Da-Lite Projection Screen
The Executive Electrol from Da-Lite is certainly a tough projection screen that is built with parts that are much more solid and industrial than go into the standard run-of-the-mill projector screen. The Executive Electrol is designed to stand up to the rigors of going up and down all day long, without blowing-a-fuse.
The Executive Electrol screen is a recessed projector screen so it is designed to be mounted in the ceiling itself and have very little of the case exposed to the outside world. Then the screen retracts, it goes fully into the case, so when the screen is not in use it is completely out of the way and unless you knew where, or what you were looking for, you would not be able to find it.
The Da-Lite Executive Electrol is an old-school kind of screen, in that it only comes in a square or 1:1 format or aspect ratio. Forget about wide screen or 16:10 or even anamorphic or cinema scope, this screen is all about square images.
There are a number of patented Da-Lite screen surfaces available on the Da-Lite Executive Electrol projector screen, and these are Matte White and High Power. The Matte White is a great all-rounder/multipurpose screen, which unless you have any pressing unique projection issues to overcome, should suit most installs and present a good viewing image to all spectators. The Matte White surface has a very wide viewing angle of 60 degrees and a gain of 1.0. So if the amount of light is in some manner controllable and you have a large or spread out audience to address the Matte White is an excellent surface to go with.
The High Power on the other hand is all about gain. So if you have an old projector that you need to hand onto for legacy reasons, the High Power is a great surface to go with to boost the brightness of the image without sacrificing the quality of the projected image too much. Another reason for going with the High Power, on the Executive Electrol electric projector screen, would be if you have no ability to control the amount of ambient light that hits the screen. If you are in a bright environment then teaming the High Power up with a bright large venue or data projector will yield a quality image.
Of course nothing in life is prefect and where there are pluses there are also minuses, and in the case of the High Power screen surface the negative or rate the negative is the viewing angle. When you boost the gain of a screen unfortunately it is the viewing angle which suffers, in this case the viewing angle is 30 degrees, so half that of the Matte White but you are getting more than double the gain.
And just to emphasis the toughness of the Executive electric screen and demonstrate how it has been build with high use in mind, the screen actually comes equipped with a ball bearing motor, which are actually few and far between when it comes to projector screens.
